“Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, ‘You are the God who sees me.’ She also said, ‘Have I truly seen the One who sees me?'” (Genesis 16:13, NLT).

Hagar felt she got a bum rap from Sarai after she had been given to Abram as an underling wife. She felt lost, without hope and invisible, so she headed out to the desert to die, but God found and comforted her. He gave her hope and a future. It amazed Hagar that God actually saw her and cared enough to help.

Sometimes we all feel a bit invisible. But no matter how small or insignificant you may feel, rest assured God sees you. We are not invisible to him—no one is. God sees us and loves us, just as he saw Hagar that day long ago. He opened her eyes to see him as well, so she would know he was real. God doesn’t see as we do, but as only he can see – right into the heart.
