God helps

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words” (Romans 8:26, NLT).

Sometimes prayer seems as easy as simply talking and at other times, it’s hard to find the words. Another aspect of God’s character, of who he is, is that of helping. He doesn’t leave us to flounder on our own when the pain can’t be expressed, when frustration and anger make it difficult to even think, or when feelings of wonder and gratitude are so profound all that comes out are tears.

God loves to help us. He knows we don’t know how to pray or what to pray for so the Holy Spirit prays for us. As The Message says, “He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.” We don’t have to worry about prayer because God has taken care of that too.
