God is Father

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18, NLT).

When Jesus was baptized, God revealed himself as a father, not just to Jesus, but to us as well. The relationship between God and his people changed. It became more intimate, raised to a higher level. Loving parents and their children have a special bond that isn’t easily broken and unless something is terribly wrong, parents don’t use their children to further their own ends.

So many people like to say God uses them for his glory, purposes or as his instruments. But believers are in a father/son or daughter relationship with God, which means we participate in his life through Christ in the Spirit. One of the definitions of participate is to share, which means there is no using going on. We share in his life, we work together in his ministry and we will share in his glory because he loves us as his dear children.
