God of no fear

“For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you'” (Isaiah 41:13, NLT).

Children have no fear when they hold a parent’s hand. They know as long as they are connected to mommy or daddy, nothing bad will happen. If something is especially scary, they might have to hide behind them, but sticking close to their source of strength makes all the difference.

Adults are stronger and more confident when connected to their source of strength as well but sometimes we fool ourselves about that source. Do we get strength from others’ opinions? Our looks, money, possessions? Hiding behind those things might feel good for a while, but those sources can quickly dry up, leaving us empty and afraid. God is the only true source of strength. When he holds our hand and says don’t be afraid, we know we can count on him to keep us safe and strong.
