“For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see” (Psalm 36:9, NLT).
Most of us have good memories of running through lawn sprinklers as children—carefree, happy, delighting in the feel of the water and being exhilarated by the cold drops hitting our bodies. Even thinking about it brings the shrieks and shock of the cold water to life in my mind.
God is a beautiful fountain of life, his cooling, refreshing waters shooting up and then raining down on everyone and everything below. He invites us to splash in his grace and in the living water of the Holy Spirit, joyfully sharing his life and love. Maybe next time you see a fountain, you might want to do a little splashing and playing, just to remind yourself of those childhood memories and exult in God who is our generous, loving and even playful fountain of life.
