“Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 7:24-25a, NLT).

Almost everyone has dreamed of a better life from time to time. For proof, just read old stories depicting exciting places like Camelot and other Utopian societies, science fiction tales of perfect worlds or in real life, look at the number of lottery tickets sold every week. But as we all know, those perfect places came to ruin or simply don’t exist, and most people who dream of the lottery keep dreaming while their money goes to someone else.

Fairy tales and lottery tickets aren’t the answers to life’s problems. God knows how hard life can be. He identifies with our struggles and empathizes with our pain because he lived it as the man Jesus Christ. Jesus also looked forward to the joy that lay ahead, which is how he endured the pain of the cross. He is the answer to all our problems and pain and he is our hope and dream of a better life and a perfect world.
