“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ” (Ephesians 1:3, NLT).

Everyone wants to blessed and in reality, everyone is. God is an equal opportunity blesser (I know, not a real word), letting the rain fall on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). But there are other blessings besides the physical ones that come from being united in Christ through the Holy Spirit.

We are the undeserving recipients of his generous grace. He produces every fruit of the Spirit in us as we participate in the life of the Father, Son and Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)—which are priceless commodities and cannot be bought. These blessings flow out of his heart to ours all because in his love, he wants us to be in perfect union with himself and accomplishes it in the perfect Son.
