God is our home

“Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!” (Psalm 90:1, NLT).

Christmas is the time of year when a lot of people think about either heading home or opening their homes to others to celebrate the biggest holiday of the year. There’s nothing like being in a warm, loving atmosphere where you feel safe and secure and away from the stress of everyday life. But for many, for one reason or another, going home isn’t an option. Some stay away because they know home won’t be a place of peace, but tension and maybe even fighting.

Home will always be loving, safe and secure if we think of it not as a place, but a person. God is our home. He is all the good things we associate with home, whether how it was or how we wish it could be. He is good smells coming from the kitchen, presents under the tree, warm smiles and big hugs, peaceful times in front of a fire and unconditional love and acceptance. His porch light always on, he never turns anyone away and there is always “room at the inn.”
